GI Energy is happy to announce that the North Shore Towers CHP project in Floral Park, NY, has been recognized by the Queens Chamber of Commerce as its 2015 Energy and Sustainability Award Winner. Amir Yanni, our Senior Vice President of Construction and Project Management, was awarded the Excellence in Construction prize at the Chamber’s 90th Annual Building Awards Gala on December 3, 2015.
The chamber also awarded the Excellence in Design prize to our long-time partner Don Berozi, PE of DB Engineering Services, PC, who served as lead electrical engineer on the project. Not to be outdone, North Shore Towers Chief Engineer Sal Castro, now also a good partner, took home the Award’s handsome commemorative building plaque, which adorns his revitalized CHP plant.
The North Shore Towers project was especially challenging, requiring careful coordination among existing, temporary, and new equipment, in order to keep the grid-isolated building from power and HVAC interruptions throughout the construction process.
Congratulations to Amir, Don, and Sal! Lucky for them, the CHP plant at North Shore Towers falls on the Queens side of the border with Long Island’s Nassau County, just on the “right side” for these awards (though maybe we should check with the Nassau County Chamber, too).
