GI Energy Privacy Policy and Cookie Statement

We respect the privacy of everyone who uses the GI Energy products and services or visits the GI Energy website.  Our Privacy Policy describes what personal information we collect when you visit our website or use our products and services, including how and why we process it, who we share it with, and your rights and choices when it comes to your personal information.

1. Special Notice – Children Under 15

Our website contains educational, energy-related information that may be of interest to children.  GI Energy’s websites are not directed to children under the age of 15, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from those under 15.  If you are under 15 years’ old please do not send us your personal information (for example, your name, address and email address). If you wish to contact GI Energy in any way which requires you to send your personal information (such as for education or innovation events) please get your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf. 

2. What personal information do we process and why?

Website visitors:  When you visit our website, information is automatically collected by the technology platforms providing the experience. For example, your web browser or mobile device may share certain data with GI Energy as those devices interact with our website. Information that you provide to us: When you sign up to receive our newsletters or other publications we will collect your name and email address so that we can send these to you. 

If you apply to work at GI Energy:  When you apply to work for us, we will collect your contact details, resume, and any other information you elect to provide to us. We use these details to evaluate your application and to communicate with you regarding that open role.

3. Communication and Marketing 

 If you have consented to receive communications from us, we will, from time to time, use your personal information to:

  • inform you about GI Energy news and campaigns,
  • inform you about products and services,
  • share with our affiliate companies, which may be located outside of the United States, to enable them to send you information which may be of interest to you

Even if you have not consented to receive communications from us we may send you service updates and notifications that are necessary for the proper functioning of the GI Energy services that you use.

4. Who do we share your personal information with?

Sometimes we may share your personal information, on a strict need to know basis with:

  • members of our group of companies, which includes our ultimate parent company Royal Dutch Shell Plc, where necessary for internal administrative purposes, corporate strategy, auditing and monitoring and research and development. We may also share your personal information with our group companies where they provide products and services to us that help us to provide products and services to you.
  • authorised agents, licensees, professional advisors, service providers and/or subcontractors of GI Energy;

5. GI Energy does not sell your data

 GI Energy will not sell or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties and will only make it available to third parties involved in the performance of the service agreed with you. Our employees and third parties brought in by us are obliged to respect the privacy and confidentiality of your information.

6. Transfer of personal information

Where your personal information has been transferred to or shared with authorized third parties we take organizational, contractual and legal measures to ensure that your personal information is exclusively processed for the purposes mentioned above and that adequate levels of protection have been implemented to safeguard your personal information.

GI Energy retains your personal data for as long as is necessary to deliver our services. We will delete or render anonymous your personal information at your request.

This Privacy Policy may need updating as a result of changes in the applicable laws or as a result of changes in the business or services. We advise you to read this Privacy Policy on a regular basis to remain up to date. This Privacy Policy was last amended in September 2018.

GI Energy uses cookies to recognize you on a subsequent visit to the website. Cookies are pieces of information stored on your computer by your browser.
